CATHERINE ANNE FOSL (formerly "Foster") is a white southern
woman, a native
of Atlanta, who now makes her home in Kentucky. She came of age
during
the turbulent years of school desegregation in rural Coweta County,
Georgia,
and became an activist in 1980s women's and peace movements, where she
first
heard of Anne Braden. Fosl is assistant professor of
Women's and Gender Studies at the University
of Louisville. She
holds a Ph.D. in history from Emory University
and
is the author of Women
for All Seasons: The Story of the Women's International League for
Peace and Freedom (Athens: University of Georgia Press, 1989).
Fosl resides in Louisville with her partner Peter Fosl (formerly
"Wasel"), two sons Isaac
and Elijah, and their dog Rika.
